Zoho DB Debuts

All that money must be weighing Google and Microsoft down - Zoho has stayed (at least) one step ahead by releasing a unique new online database product, Zoho DB, and initial impressions have been very positive.
Read/WriteWeb's Richard MacManus seems to be a fan. Mashable's Stan Schroeder also contributed a fair amount of applause. TechCrunch's Mark Hendrickson gave an honest impression with which I'd have to agree, writing, "There's a lot of functionality built into Zoho DB, much more than I can explain or even fully understand."
But, in an effort to hit the highlights, we can turn to the Zoho DB homepage.
Not that the homepage wastes ink on every single tidbit; even Zoho's own "executive summary" leaves things sort of open-ended, with an introductory sentence stating that Zoho DB "[p]rovides database and reporting functionalities coupled with web based features like sharing, tagging, publishing and more..." (And that ellipsis is Zoho's, not mine.)
A trail of bullet points goes on to identify features like "Access anywhere," "Convert spreadsheet to online databases," "Drag and Drop based Report building," "SQL Support," "Share & Collaborate," and "Embed into website/blog," however, and there are also links to a demo video and sample databases to help fill in the details.
All in all, Zoho DB is an impressive offering, and is definitely worth looking into.
The rest of Zoho's lineup isn't anything to sneeze at, either.
If Zoho had a higher profile, one might expect its products to become quite successful.
As it is, the company may have trouble competing with Google and Microsoft.
Yet by releasing interesting products well ahead of those giants, Zoho's staying in the fight.
Also, looking forward to the next round, Richard MacManus reports that the company's strategy involves "plans to integrate DB with Sheet and Creator."
